Two quick questions: 1) On the next software upgrade, could you add a sleep (countdown) timer? ...if there isn't one already I just haven't found. 2) Why does it not recognize .mp3 playlists create in MS Music Player, stored on thumb drives?

Asked by: Billy
Hi Billy. We can't promise a sleep timer in the next update, but it will likely come in a future update sometime this year. HEOS is not able to read a playlist file because it doesn't actually contain the music in the playlist. It's only able to directly read the audio files. You can try recreating the playlist by adding the tracks to your HEOS play queue, then saving the play queue as a playlist by tapping the list icon in the top right corner of the now playing screen in the HEOS app, then the star icon to save the play queue as a HEOS playlist.

Just purchased 3 Heos Drives and I'm disappointed that the maximum supported streaming sampling rate (128 kbps) is lower than both Heos HS2 units and Sonos. Surprising since it seems like this should be the "flagship" Heos product. Any updates coming?

Asked by: Frederick
The HEOS Drive was released late in the 1st generation, but is still a 1st generation product. It is not in line with the HS2 models that came later, with updated chip sets to allow hi-res playback. Its likely that there will be a new version in the future with more capabilities, but the current version does not support hi-res playback.

About playing front L/R/C channels of a HEOS enabled Dolby Atmos receiver. The receiver will be in the theater room and the HEOS drive in equipment closet. How would I connect them together so my wife can hear the front speakers (TV) in the kitchen.

Asked by: Calthron
Hi Calthron. If the source material playing is 2 channel, you can group the zones of the HEOS drive or other speakers with the AVR to play the audio. If the audio is in a surround format there will be no audio to other HEOS devices.

The website says HEOS Drive is 3rd Party Controllable. Where can I find information on the 3rd party compatibility? The question is more related to 3rd party device such as Amazon Echo, etc.

Asked by: borgesj
Hello. 3rd party control refers to control systems such as Control4, RTI and URC. These systems are installed and configured by custom installers. You can contact your local authorized HEOS dealer to learn more about 3rd party integration with HEOS. At this time we have not integrated with Amazon Echo or other connected home systems, but it's certainly a possibility for the not-so-distant future.

Planning to install a Drive in a location (where whole home speaker wires terminate) that does not have a network jack. Will it work to plug the Drive into a wireless access point (eero) with an RJ45 jack?

Asked by: Mudinyeri
Yes you would be able to use an access point to connect the Drive to your network as long as your have it connected via an Ethernet cord.

Installed HEOS Drive in ventilated cabinet w/ ext. fan. Runs hot (~90 deg) even on QUICK STANDY (red light above pwr button). Manual says it is power-saving mode! Have enabled "DEEP STANDBY" for all 4 zones in Adv. NW Settings but never goes into it.

Asked by: Srini
Thanks Mike.  My point is "Quick Start mode" or "Quick Standby" consumes just as much power - so runs just as hot.  Re. the 2nd point re. "Deep Standby," ....since network (NW) is always connected (hot) ...it never enters that mode in reality.  If one has to physically dis-connect the NW it defeats the purpose!!  Doesn't it.  Denon Engg. needs to re-think this hot potato:)  If not distributed Sonos boxes can be a better prop if one is concerned with heat.  In the long run, so much constant heat will also shrink the half life of the electronics.

Set up a heos drive at home recently. Are there instructions to enable and use bluetooth?

Asked by: Unni
Hi Unni. I'm sorry if you have been misinformed, but the HEOS Drive does not support Bluetooth playback. However, if you have another HEOS device on the network which does support Bluetooth, you can start playback on that device and group the HEOS Drive zones with that device to play the same audio.
