Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic sound, simple setup I recently added the HEOS Home Cinema to our existing HEOS multi-room system to replace an older sound bar. The connection was very straight-forward (even with our older non-ARC TV with an optical output) and the HEOS Bar learned the IR commands from our Samsung without a hitch. Very cool to be able to use either the TV's remote or the HEOS app to easily control the system. Just follow the prompts during setup. One interesting thing- the fidelity an range of this speaker is far superior to the little HEOS3, so low bitrate TuneIn stations (32 kbps AAC according to the app) sound as thin as they actually are...going to higher resolution music from TIDAL or even Spotify is a HUGE improvement. (TV and Movies played through the TOSlink in sound awesome too)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from surround sound Listen people, If your looking for a true surround sound, then clear the cobwebs from pocket and buy a true surround sound receiver and speakers. Heos, Sonos, and all others that are out should only be used for distributed audio throughout the home. If you live in a box in the city, then any speaker bar will work. I will say- that Heos is a more powerful system than Sonos, not to mention, Denon is an audio company- not a software company. Stop trying to get a top of the line surround sound system for the price of a home theater in a box!!!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointing We thought that this bar would work well with its brother Denon receiver. No sir. We are feeding an HDR signal through the Denon which feeds the TV. There is no documentation to tell us if the Home Cinema passes the HDR signal to the TV if you feed the bar first. Even if it did, we were not comfortable passing from HDMI switch to HDMI switch to get the signal finally to the TV so we ran to the TV directly. With an optical feed back to the Home Cinema it is impossible to get rear channels and the bar to work together. We tried everything, called support and no one had an answer. That just seems really dumb to us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome This soundbar produces amazing sound for movies and music. Despite what other reviews have stated, the app works perfectly and initial setup was super easy. I tried several soundbars before settling on this one and we're extremely happy with the product. So much so we've already ordered more HEOS speakers for around the house. Denon is awesome because they include EVERY cable/piece of hardware you could ever need to use their soundbar. I can't stress enough the amazing sound that comes out of this soundbar, it just rocks everything you send through it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From the Party to the Game! It always sounds incredible. Ahead of time, the music fills the party and I never get tired of answering the question, "How does it make bass like that?" when all they can see is the subtle soundbar. Then the football game comes on and you feel the impacts of the players and hear the calls on the line like you were there. It's simply amazing every time. My wife has no problem switching from music on her phone to watching a movie and you just couldn't say that about our old system that required two extra remotes to accomplish that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sound I wanted a system that was wireless and sounded great without spending a whole lot of money, I heard many soundbars before buying this one. Amazing sound with great bass from sub woofer. Also loved the app witch controls the system. What a great buy, I have recommended this home cinema to my family and friends and they also purchased it and love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound Need a sound bar but didn't have room for lots of speakers around the room. High quality sound delivered from just this one speaker and subwoofer . Very pleased. App works nicely with my Spotify account.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sound!! I'm no guru, but the sound is really good for a sound bar. No complaints with the sound. Complaints I have are it doesn't properly sync with my other Heos device. If I want to play music from both it constantly goes from full sound to sound bar only to Heos 5 only, etc. Also, about 50% of the time when I turn the tv on I have to use the app to get the sound on. The other 50% the sound comes on with the tv. With that said, I still like this system and would recommend because I believe these issues can be resolved with software updates.

Can I use headphones to listen to the tv rather than the HomeCinema soundbar and sub? Specifically I'd like to be able to watch tv at night without waking family members or turning the volume down so low that I can barely hear it myself. Thank you.

Asked by: jbradtx
There is no way to use headphones with the HEOS Bar, but you could try running headphoens from the audio output on your TV. This would completely remove the HEOS Bar from the equation when using the headphones. To discuss the best way to connect headphones to your TV, it would be best to contact the TV manufacturer. On another note, there is a "Night Mode" option which cuts certain frequencies which tend to penetrate walls and disturb others. You may find that when using Night Mode, you can enjoy the HEOS Bar without disturbing your sleeping family members. Thanks!

Any chance to have, on the Home Cinema, the "real surround" option (with 2 x Heos 1 HS2) as the Heos Bar has got?

Asked by: Richard
Hi Richard. The HEOS HomeCinema is only a 2.1 TV sound solution. Only the HEOS Bar can be paired with additional HEOS speakers for 5.1 surround.

does this do a 5.1

Asked by: Bryman
Hi Bryman. The HEOS HomeCinema is a 2.1 TV sound solution. It does not support a 5.1 setup. For a potential 5.1 setup using additional HEOS speakers, you may want to check out the HEOS Bar instead. Thanks!

Does the HomeCinema ever turn off or is it always in the "on" mode. I don't see any on/off switch

Asked by: Gary52
Hi Gary52. The unit does enter a "quick start" standby mode when not in use, which reduces power, but the LED remains lit. The only way to actually turn the unit off is to unplug it. Please see the link below for Power Mode details. Thanks! http://manuals.denon.com/HEOSHC/ALL/EN/PCIRSYgnmtsjen.php

Is the Heos sound bar 4k ready?

Asked by: Johnny44
It is available for Pre-Order on crutchfield. The Heos support doesn't have any info, which is kind of odd, since all the info is listed on crutchfield. It does support wireless rear surrounds (heos 1). I hope they do an update to the current soundbar, so it can do the same.

Can I pair 2 heos 1 speakers to my homecinema sound bar using the tv grouping in the app to create virtual surround sound?

Asked by: Robert S
Yes, but there's a delay between what you hear from the Home Cinema and what you heard from the Heos 1.

Is this sound bar compatible with the Denon DBT-3313UDCI blu-ray player? Want a simple system for home movies but we also like our CD collection.

Asked by: Big City
Yes the Denon DBT-3313UDC will be able to work alongside the HEOS soundbar. You can do this using the HDMI connection, or Coaxial input.
