MC Cartridge

Features - DL-301II

Modeled on the DL-301 high cost-performance cartridge, the DL- 301II employs a metal body for greater structural rigidity as well as a highly rigid lightweight tapered cantilever. Q&A - DL-301II

I have been reviewing this Cartridge the DL-110 and DL-103R. I have a Marantz TT-15S1 and I am wondering if this cartridge will work on my Turntable and if so will I need any additional advice once I receive it. Thank you again for the reply on the DL-1

Asked by: DC7thirtyy
Hey DC7thirtyy, Yes, these cartridges are compatible with your Marantz turntable and no additional advice will be needed. I hope this helps if not you can always give us a call to have one of our expert technical support team members assist with this and any other concerns you may have. Thanks, Denon North America

I have a Technics SL 1210M5G Turntable. My question is will I be able to use the DL-301II with the tone arm that is on the 1210? would I be better off with the DL-103R?

Asked by: Rob 250
I have a Technics SL-1200M3D and an SL-1800 MkII (same tonearm, platter, and motor), and the DL-301II works great on both. I also have the DL-103 and the DL-103R, and for them I have to use a heavier-than-stock headshell (12 grams) and the auxilliary tonearm weight (10 grams, but KAB now markets another auxilliary weight that runs 17 grams). So the stock Technics arm is perfect for the DL-301II, but must be doctored with extra weight for the best results with the DL-103/103R.

what MC load should I put to my phono preamp?

Asked by: mindarelus
Hello mindarelus, I see Ken C has not answered your question. I hope that I may be able to provide you with an answer. I have found that ideal loading impedences are somewhere between 5 and 15 times that of a LOMC cartridges' output impedence although some audio enthusiasts will go even higher. Given that the output impedence of the 301 MKII is 33 ohms I would load it somewhere in the 150 to 500 ohm range. I use my 301 MKII with a Denon AU-300LC step-up transformer plugged into a MM phono stage. This gives me a 470 ohm load and it sounds fantastic. Cheers!
